Honorable Wahab J Sanan of Barangay Caddayan; Honorable Aiyub T Abdulwahid of Barangay Paguengan; and Hon Abubakar Jahadin of Barangay Mangalut, the Barangay Chairmen of Akbar Municipality facilitated the surrender of the High-Powered Firearms to the 18th Infantry (Deo et Patria) Battalion on 11 April 2022.
This was made possible through the close cooperation among the civilian populace, the Local Government Officials of Akbar Municipality led by Honorable Alih Sali, Akbar PNP led by PLTCOL JAVIER MUIN, OIC of Akbar MPS, and the Akbar Municipality Barangay Chairmen.
The turnover of the firearms was done during the successful conduct of Area Clearing Evaluation for the seven (7) Barangays under the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the 18th Infantry (Deo et Patria) Battalion. Said barangays were declared free from Local Terrorist Group affectation.
Also participating in the activity were the Local Government Officials of Akbar, Al-Barka, and Ungkaya Pukan Municipalities, Religious Leaders, and the PNP from the respective municipalities.
The 18th Infantry (Deo et Patria) Battalion shall continue to collaborate and strengthen ties with the different stakeholders and key leaders in its AOR to achieve peace, security, and progress in the province of Basilan.
