MALUSO, Basilan – A total of one hundred four (104) loose firearms were presented by the Local Government Unit of Maluso headed by the Municipal Mayor Hanie Bud to Colonel Frederick M Sales, the Deputy Commander of Joint Task-Force Basilan/101st Infantry Brigade, during the ceremonial stenciling and inventory of Small Arms and Light Weapons Program here at Municipal Townhall on November 05, 2021.
The SALW Program is a component of the normalization process under the Comprehensive Agreement of Bangsamoro which aims to reduce and control the significant number of illegal firearms within the community.
Mayor Bud expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the 4th Special Forces Battalion headed by Lieutenant Colonel Alex D. Ampati for the unwavering support in sustaining the peace and development in the municipality.
“Insha Allah, tuluy-tuloy na ang kapayaan sa Basilan, kaya tayo ay dapat magkaisa at magtulungan tungo sa kaunlaran.” Mayor Bud said.
Colonel Sales lauded the collaborative effort of the local government and all the barangay leaders in sustaining the SALW program in the municipality.
“Para sa ating mga anak at apo ng Basilan ang ating ginagawang programang pangkapayapaan, kaya dapat nating suportahan ang SALW program para sa tuluy-tuloy na katahimikan ng ating bayan.” Col. Sales expressed.
Mr. Manny Muarip – Provincial Administrator, Police Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Usman – Basilan PPO, and different government agency heads and stakeholders attended and showed support on the activity conducted.
