MAKILALA, COTABATO – Alias Jorry, 47 years old, B’laan and resident of Sitio Datal Biao, Brgy Danlag, Tampakan, who happen to be a member of Guerilla Front ALIP of the Far South Mindanao Region recently surfaced and put up his hands to Tampakan Municipal Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) Chairman, Hon Leonard T Escobillo during the culmination program of a 3-day Peace Building Seminar on November 7, 2021 held at Tampakan National High School.
The surrenderee gave up all his weapons that included one (1) unit of M16 Rifle with one (1) short magazine and one (1) unit Garand Rifle during the culmination program of the activity. Along with it, said FR also gave up his rebellious intentions in order to take a new step and be able to change for the better through this PBS.
The activity was participated by sixty-three members of the New People’s Army Under Ground Mass Organization (UGMO) and seven NPA rebels conducted by Tampakan MTF-ELCAC.
The participants from Barangay Danlag, Tablu and Palo 19 of Tampakan, South Cotabato who recently cut their ties and denounced their affiliation with CPP-NPA-NDF were enlightened and awakened from the deception of the NPA terrorist.
Likewise, the participants submitted a project proposal to the LGU that mostly tackled livelihood enhancement. Also, they expressed their support to the Barangay Development Programs after internalizing the purpose of contributing to the peace and development of communities.
Director Restituto Macuto, Regional Director DSWD XII during his message encourage everyone to be advocate of peace.
“We are always thankful of the fact that you have seen the efforts of the government to give you a good life, if not the best, for you to understand the importance of living in peace and harmony. We are also thankful of our military personnel who are more than dedicated to solidify peace and order across the country as they have been guided with the whole-of-nation approach”, Macuto emphasized, in line with the government’s willingness to welcome and help those who were deceived by the communist NPA terrorist.
The PBS is a 3-day program that aims to reorient and redirect the former UGMO members from NPA propaganda. The program includes information awareness on programs and services of the government and other partner stakeholder to disprove the issues being exploited by the NPA terrorist and further insulate the communities from the deceptive schemes of the said armed group.
In conclusion, Hon Leonard Escobillo, Mayor of Tampakan amplified in his message the importance of the presence of the military in the municipality. He also highlighted that with the military’s thrusts and activities through community development as signified in NTF-ELCAC, the peace and order situation of the place has actually been replenished and resurfaced.
