From the Manila Times (Aug 6, 2021): 5 NPA rebels withdraw support for rebellion
Five alleged members of the New People's Army's (NPAs) Lejo Cauilan Command recently withdrew their support for the Militia ng Bayan and the NPA sa Baryo after a series of negotiations initiated by law enforcers, Kalinga Returnees Association and their family members.Three of them were identified as rebels who had fought without firearms and the other two members were identified only as residents of Lubuagan, Kalinga.
They presented themselves at the Lubuagan Municipal Police Station in Aug. 4, 2021. Their withdrawal of support for the NPA was facilitated by the police and the military.
The surrenderers said they had been deceived by the communist rebel group. They promised to help the government in its quest for peace and freedom.
