Philippine Navy (PN) chief Rear Adm. Adeluis Bordado was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral after formally donning his third star on Wednesday.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) vice chief-of-staff, Lt. Gen. Erickson Gloria led the donning ceremony at the AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Bordado then proceeded to the PN headquarters on Roxas Boulevard, Manila where he was accorded customary arrival honors by a battalion-sized contingent of sailors and marines.
"Vice Admiral Bordado's third-star promotion bespeaks the Navy Chief's competence, expertise, and professionalism, the qualities that serve as among the cornerstones of his leadership, and how he is setting the pace of the Navy’s mission accomplishment and fulfillment of mandate to the Filipino people and maritime nation," PN public affairs office chief Commander Benjo Negranza said in a statement.
Bordado took over the PN last June 8, replacing Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo. He hails from Camarines Sur, graduated no. 4 in the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1988.
His expertise lies in operations, intelligence, information technology, budget, planning, and education and training.
Among the key positions he held are chief of naval staff and commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Education, Training and Doctrine Command, Naval Installation Command, Naval Forces Southern Luzon, and Sealift Amphibious Force of the Philippine Fleet.
