Amid the continuous conduct of focused military operation and operation other than war, thirteen local terrorist group members returned to the fold of law in Maguindanao on July 13, 2020.
The thirteen decided to withdraw membership from the LTG after a series of civil military operations conducted by the troops of the 33rd Infantry Battalion and with the support of the civilians in the municipalities of Sultan Sa Barongis, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, and Rajah Buayan in Maguindanao.
Anwar Lagasan, Baumol Manalasal, Masmo Manalasal, Abusama Manalasalm Rahib Mangansakan, Ali Saludin Mugawan, Humidi Abdulkadir, Hamdan Dia Kadir, Nasrudin Mantawil, Naem Usman, Mohammad Suhod, Omar Sampulna, and Samsudin Pasawilan handed over one homemade Sniper Rifle, 7.62mm Barrett, two homemade M79 Grenade Launchers, two homemade 7.62mm M14 Rifle, one homemade Rocket-Propelled Grenade, two improvised Sniper Rifles Cal .50 Barrett, two improvised RPG, one Caliber 45 Thompson, three RPG ammunition, and three bottles of Black Powder as a gesture of their sincere intent to be reintegrated to the mainstream society.
Said personalities and handed over firearms were subsequently presented to 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Jesus Rico D. Atencio in a simple ceremony held at the 33IB headquarters in Barangay Zapakan, Rajah Buayan at 10am, July 14.
“We are very grateful of the support we get from the local government, local leaders, our stakeholders, and the community,” said Col. Atencio.
Present during the activity were Rajah Buayan Mayor Yacob Ampatuan, Shariff Aguak Mayor Marop Ampatuan, Sultan Sa Barongis Mayor Mamanto Mamantal, and other local leaders.
JTF Central Commander Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon lauded the troops for their dedication and hard work that yield significant gains and mission accomplishment.
“Amid the challenges the whole nation is facing right now, the armed forces remain calm and steadfast. We have established our strong interagency collaboration and through this, we will win all battles,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Joint Force Commander, WestMinCom.
“All together, we will continue our journey towards the attainment of peace and solidarity while we decontaminate our communities from the odds and ends of the invisible enemy,” the commander added.
