Army Col. Lyndon Sollesta is the new commander of the Philippine Army 51st Engineering Brigade.
Sollesta, who used to be assigned with the 78th Infantry Battalion in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, replaced on June 11 Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Anthony Ramos, who retired from the military service.
Before his appointment as 51st Engineering Brigade commander, Sollesta served as the Philippine Army Housing Office chief, responsible for managing Army housing facilities and transient quarters.
Sollesta was installed by Army vice commander Major Gen. Reynaldo Mejia Aquino AFP, who also gave honors to the outgoing 51st Engineering Brigade commander, at Camp Rigoberto J. Atienza in Libis, Quezon City.
A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering graduate from the University of San Agustinin Iloilo, in 1986, Sollesta was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the Philippine Army in 1988, whose first assignment was with 78IB in northern Negros.
He also served as commander of 3rd Infantry Division Engineer Combat Battalion in 2001, commanding officer of the Engineer and Maintenance and Support Battalion and the 565th Engineer Construction Battalion both of the 51st Engineer Brigade.
