IGUIG, Cagayan, Jan. 2 (PIA) – The Indignation Rally against CPP-NDF-NPA held here on Dec. 27, 2019 centered on the youth, urging them not to be persuaded by the propaganda of the Communist Party of the Philippines, New Peoples Army, and National Democratic Front (CPP/NPA/NDF).

"The government is providing almost all the needs of its people especially the youth, thus, there is no reason for them to join these rebel groups," said former youth leader, now Sanguniang Bayan Member, Mariz Callueng during the nationwide simultaneous indignation rally which aimed to denounce all forms of violence, terrorism and atrocities in support to the implementation of Executive Order No. 70.

Callueng, who represented Mayor Ferdinand Trinidad here, said the advocacy of the government especially the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines against terrorism is advantageous not only for the citizens of the country but especially the youth as they are the future leaders and builders of the nation.

For his part, municipal Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Rvlord Escobar, who is also the regional president of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT), said the generation today and the next generations are lucky enough to have a President who is determined to end terrorism.

"With the President's commitment to end insurgency, it gives us assurance that someday, no one will be afraid to have his children or relatives become a victim of cruelty and terrorism. As a head of the organization, I give my full support to this campaign,” Escobar added.

PCpt. Roselle S. Damil, officer in charge of PNP Iguig, said it has been 51 years that the CPP-NPA-NDF used the young students from different universities to stage protests against the government, they recruit and take advantage of these young individuals.

"For 51 years, these rebel groups tried to destroy the good future that awaits the young, now it’s time to take back the young ones from the hands of these terrorists so that they will enjoy the kind of life they want," Damil added.

Meanwhile, all barangay captains and SK officials of the town, including PNP officials, LGU officials and employees and other stakeholders joined the rally with placards in their hands, denouncing the atrocities of the CPP-NPA-NDF. (ALM/MDCT/GVB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
