ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Dec. 23 (PIA) – Members of the New People’s Army from Capiz, who returned to the folds of law, have availed the package of assistance from the government.
According to 1st Lieutenant Hazel Joy Durotan, Information Officer of the Philippine Army’s 61st Infantry Battalion, the package of assistance of the government, through the Department of the Interior and Local Government, was personally distributed to the former rebels by DILG Capiz director John Ace Azarcon.
Officials from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police and Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict were likewise present during the event, December 13, in barangay Lagdungan, Tapaz, Capiz.
Three regular members of the NPA were each given 50,000 livelihood assistance while the five Militia ng Bayan were each given P15,000 immediate assistance.
The financial assistance is part of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP)
Aside from the distribution of DILG package of assistance, the monitoring of livelihood assistance and provision of psychological support activities were also done for the former rebels, Durotan said.
The former rebels and Militia ng Bayan beneficiaries each received P1,000 transportation assistance.

They were also given seeds courtesy of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Office 6, while the children were also given toys.
Meanwhile 61IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Joel Benedict Batara reiterated his call to the remaining members of the CPP-NPA to take the opportunity to surrender themselves to the government, avail the E-CLIP and other government programs, and live a normal life with their family.
Batara said there were already a number of former rebels who have availed of the program.
He added that Executive Order 70 of President Duterte that institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation Approach is an effective strategy to end local communist armed conflict, thus attaining peace in the country. (JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
