CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- The battle-tested Army’s 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division based here is celebrating its weeklong 32nd founding anniversary with special guests, leaders of its former arch-enemies in the province.

Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, 6ID commander, said former top officials of the
Moro Islamic Liberation Front, led by current Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Interim Chief Minister Murad Ebrahim, are scheduled to attend the activities this week.

The celebration opened with sports activities on Sunday, participated by Army and Marine units based in the provinces of Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, parts of North Cotabato and parts of Lanao del Sur.

Carreon said the soldiers will also be “fighting” against MILF former combatants in different sports events.

The MILF is now part of the government after it signed a comprehensive peace deal with the latter in 2014, and the ensuing establishment of the MILF-led BARMM earlier this year.
