TILING, Cauayan, Negros Occidental- Students and SK leaders of Hinobaan, Negros Occidental undergo a three (3) day Youth Leadership Summit in joint effort of 15th Infantry Battalion, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine National Police, Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Office, Trinity Christian Fellowship and Local Government Unit of Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.

Jhon Patrick Y Onggao, the National Youth Leadership Summit Presidentgraced the opening program last August 29 while Hon. Ernesto Estrao, Municipal Mayor of Hinoba-an was the guest speaker during the closing ceremony.

“I am thankful because we organized another youth sector here in Hinoba-an.Maybe, we can register you either in Department of Labor and Employment or Security Exchange Commission so that you will become a legitimate partner of the municipality for peace and development. I hope that your group will multiply by telling others in your communities of relevance of this activity in peace and development.” Hon. Estrao said.

“Youth sector is one of the vulnerable sectors in our society and they are always the target of the CPP-NPA Terrorist recruitment because of their idealism and curiosity. You must be careful about people telling you of issues as these are the propaganda exploited by the the CPP-NPA,” Ltc Tomales said

Mr. Bernald Gelbolingo, one of the participants said, “Previously, I joined the protest rally against the government because I am a member of Anakbayan.Our recruiter taught me lessons that made me get angry and become disappointed with the government.The Youth Leadership Summit made me realize that those lessons being taught to us by the leader of Anakbayan were just only propaganda and a deception.” The activity was participated by SK Officials and other youths from the different barangaysof the said municipality.Insights were provided by the different resource speakers all geared towards helping develop sound personality, responsible citizenship and sense of belongingness to community development efforts. Other batches of same activity is already programmed for the succeeding months.
