The Army has deployed 240 new personnel of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Bukidnon.
First Lt. Kenneth Cabbigat, political officer of the 8th Infantry Battalion (IB), said a majority of the militiamen are volunteer reservists.
CAFGU members undergo training that focuses on firearms and small unit tactics. They are entitled to free health care, clothing allowance and monthly stipend of P4,500.
Lt. Col. Ronald Illana, 8th IB commander, said militiamen help protect communities from communist rebels and secure government projects.
