Makilala, North Cotabato - As government pursuit operation against CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) progresses in the hinterlands of Barangay Sibulan, Sta Cruz, Davao del Sur, troops from 39th Infantry Battalion (39IB) again had an armed encounter at around 08:15 in the morning, December 28, 2018.
The troops had chanced upon a group of CNTs we...re apparently setting-up an ambush for pursuing government forces wherein the firefight ensued. The terrorists again scampered away leaving behind foodstuffs and other propaganda materials for their botched anniversary celebration.
Pursuit operation conducted again wherein government troops found along the CNTs tracks a Garrand Rifle with serial number 2846970. It can be recalled that the same contending forces had a skirmish last Christmas Day.
Lieutenant Colonel Rhojun Rosales, 39IB Commander said, "we are conducting Focused Military Operation to keep up the pressure on the terrorist group for them to submit and surrender or else be destroyed. This is in line with the President's guidance in ending these decades’ old Internal Security problem".
On the other hand, Brigadier General Roberto Ancan, Commander of 1002nd Infantry Brigade expressed his commendation to the troops and said, “the operation was indeed a security operation which is basically a measure to protect the community from deceptive recruitment and atrocities of terrorist groups. The decisive engagement of the troops against these terrorists were the result of the Community Support Program, now the CNTs are losing their ground.” | 10ID
