CAMP GEN SERVILLANO AQUINO, Tarlac City (DWDD) – An 18-year-old female former rebel Red Fighter named as “Ka Cindy” reunited with her parents last December 02, 2018 (Sunday) at Brgy. Baguinge, Klangan, Ifugao at around 10:00 in the morning with the help of Northern Luzon Command’s 503rd Infantry Brigad...e of the 54th Infantry Battalion (54IB) from the 5th Infantry Division (5ID).
Ka Cindy who was previously reported missing and recruited by CNTs about five months ago was rescued by the 54IB while conducting pursuit operations against fleeing Communist NPA Terrorists in the area of Ifugao last November 21, 2018.
She was able to finally reunite with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Bagiw with the help of Provincial Social Welfare and Development PSWD-Ifugao and the 54IB who both also discussed the enrollment of said persona for the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government.
Parents of Ka Cindy verbally expressed their gratitude to the 54IB for saving and rescuing their daughter. As Ka Cindy conveyed her distress during her stay with the CNTs and how the soldiers from the 54IB helped her break free from the grasps of these rebel groups. She then added, “Nanawagan ako sa mga natitirang miyembro ng grupong NPA na magsurrender na at bumaba sapagkat ang gobyerno ay handa para tayo ay taos pusong tulungan sa pamamagitan ng E-CLIP”.
LTGEN EMMANUEL B SALAMAT, AFP Commander NOLCOM said, “We are opening our arms to anyone who is willing to change their crooked ways and come back to the folds of law. I am encouraging NPA remnants to abandon your armed struggle and be one again with your families, far from the threats of inevitable distress that you are or may experience due to the fake ideologies that these leftist groups are fighting for”
NOLCOM will continue to track down NPA remnants and will liberally extend assistance to any Red Fighter who willingly abandons their armed struggle and decides to become one with the nation again. NOLCOM / MCAG
