From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Oct 12): COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT | Army Engineers to construct Lumad Schools in Talaingod
NAVAL STATION FELIX APOLINARIO, Panacan, Davao City – The Eastern Mindanao Command through the 52nd Engineering Brigade, Philippine Army entered into an agreement with DSWD and Local Government Unit of Talaingod, Davao Del Norte for the construction of classrooms intended for Lumad Learners in Talaingod, Davao Del Norte on October 10, 2018, at the Talaingod Municipal Hall, Sto. Niño, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte.
The project, which is under the KALAHI Program of DSWD, will be implemented initially in seven sites of Sto. Niño, Talaingod, Davao del Norte considered as Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
In an agreement entered into, the implementation shall adopt the strategy of convergence and “whole of nation approach” wherein it will be participated in by the communities involved, and the integration of programs of the different agencies in one project.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines and Eastern Mindanao Command, which was represented by BGen. Dionisio Baudin. Commander of 52nd Engineer Brigade. committed to providing security, technical assistance, limited labor, and supervision until the completion of the project.
In his remarks, BGen Baudin committed the sincerity of the military to carry out the task.
“The real job is after the signing and we assure everyone that we are sincere and will carry out the task of building these classrooms for our IP children and youth,” he said.
Meanwhile, the DSWD, Municipal Tribal Council, LGU and BLGU will be in charge in the procurement of materials, monitoring cultural sensitivity, and the overall participation of the community and the tribal beneficiary in the overall implementation of the project.
Aside from BGen Baudin, the signing of the agreement was witnessed and attended to by Mayor Basilio Libayao, DSWD XI Assitant Regional Director Rebecca Sta Maria, BGen Antonio Rosario representing Lt. Gen Madrigal and other staff from the military, DSWD, and LGU. EASTMINCOM / MCAG
