From the Manila Bulletin (Sep 8): Army activates task force for Western and Central Visayas
The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) has activated a new task force that covers Western Visayas and Central Visayas.
Maj. Gen. Dinoh Dolina, 3ID commander, said Joint Task Force SPEAR aims to have a “development support operations to sustain the peace, ensure security, and help maintain public order to significantly contribute to the inclusive economic and human development” in the two regions of the Visayas.
“It covers the land, sea, air and cyberspace domain of Regions 6 and Region 7,” Dolina added.
While it was created last month, it is only this month that Joint Task Force SPEAR is on full implementation.
During its creation, Joint Task Force SPEAR has already neutralized seven New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in San Jose town, Antique province.
The Joint Task Force SPEAR was also behind the apprehension of Oger Pelonio, who is believed to be a member of the Abu Sayyaf group.
Meanwhile, Dolina urged task force members to accomplish their mission with discipline, professionalism and positive attitude.
