From the Philippine Star (Jun 6): Landmine blast mars Masbate school opening
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels detonated a landmine near a public school in Barangay San Vicente, Dimasalang, Masbate on Monday.
Senior Inspector Arnel Bongcaras, Dimasalang police chief, said personnel of the Masbate Public Safety Company were patroling the barangay plaza around 100 meters away from the school when the landmine exploded.
Nobody was reported wounded among civilians and police officers, but authorities ordered the suspension of classes.
An investigation is ongoing.
