From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Jun 19): NEW LIFE | Former CNTs with Firearms surrenders to 7ID, receive Livelihood Assistance
FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija (DWDD) – Nine (9) former members of the CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) surrendered to the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division, today, June 19, 2018.
The surrenderees who were members of Militiang Bayan, Bayan Muna and the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) returned to the folds of the government were formally received by Major General Felimon T Santos Jr AFP, Commander, 7ID in a formal ceremony.
All of the nine (9) returnees will first be receiving livelihood assistance from 7ID while their benefits from the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) is being processed. They will be initially given a pair of sheep from the Army division as part of their start-up.
The 7th Civil-Military Operations (GWAPO) Battalion and 84th Infantry “Victorious” Battalion were responsible to the surrender of the former rebels.
A total of 12 firearms were returned by the surrenderees. Said firearms are composed of one shotgun, two US Springfield M1903 cal .30 bolt action rifles, two cal .38 Smith and Wesson, three improvised 12-gauge shotguns, one improvised 20-gauge shotgun and two cal .22 converted Armscor Air Rifle and one Springfield 5.56mm improvised. All firearms are loaded with ammunitions.
The surrenderees said that they were enticed by the benefits and privileges that they will get from ECLIP if they will surrender to the government. They also expressed their longing to live a normal life with their family which is the main reason for their laying down of arms.
Each former rebel will receive a total amount of ₱ 65,000.00 once enrolled in the ECLIP. ₱ 15,000.00 is an immediate financial assistance while processing their application while ₱ 50,000.00 will be given as a livelihood assistance. Aside from the amount mentioned, they will also receive an additional financial aid for the firearms they surrendered depending on the valuation of weapons. The amount ranges from ₱ 2,000.00 to ₱ 2,000,000.00.
Major General Felimon T Santos Jr AFP, Commander, 7ID assured the surrenderees that 7ID will keep them safe with their families. He also said that the distribution of the start-up livelihood assistance is a form of the division’s appreciation to the trust and confidence of the surrenderees. He gave an order to the battalions to assist the former rebels to complete their requirements for the application for ECLIP. 7DPAO / MCAG
