From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 5): 50 locals trained on explosive ordnance
A total of 50 participants from various sectors here are set to graduate Friday from a five-day Explosive Ordnance Reconnaissance Training course initiated by the local government.
Mayor Eliseo Garcesa Jr. said the Oct. 2–6 training aims to keep participants abreast of their respective functions in reporting and securing their community against threats of terror bombings.
The participants include members of the town police force, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team or BPAT, vendors, drivers, traffic enforcers and private individuals.
Garcesa said the trainees would be issued vests and identification cards for easy recognition in times of emergency situations.
Members of the ordnance reconnaissance group are tasked to keep communication lines open at all times for quick response versus bomb detections.
Garcesa has also rallied town folks to be vigilant at all times in helping report to authorities suspicious-looking persons roaming in their respective villages especially during nighttime.
