US amphibious transport dock goes on patrol mission

From Update.Ph (Jan 27): US amphibious transport dock goes on patrol mission

Forward-deployed United States San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Green Bay (LPD 20) departed its base in Sasebo, Japan, January 25 for a routine patrol in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, the US Navy said.

Moreover, the said American warship and the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) will participate exercises and training with regional allies to increase combat readiness and enhance partnerships.

“Embarking, training, and operating with the 31st MEU remains our number one priority,” said Captain Nathan Moyer, Green Bay’s commanding officer. “As we soon embark our Marines, I look forward to seamless integration as we train and work together while building stronger ties with partners in the region.”

In 2016, prior to returning to its homeport in Japan, USS Green Bay participated in Philippine Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX) 2016, the 33rd iteration of PH-US PHIBLEX.
