From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 16): Task Force Haribon: Launching of ASEAN Summit 2017 incident-free

Sunday's launching of the Philippines' chairmanship of the ASEAN Summit 2017 in Davao City was concluded without any hitch.

This was disclosed by Joint Task Force Haribon head Brig. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay in a statement Monday.

"On our initial assessment, the Launching of the Philippines' Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017 in Davao City was a resounding success," he said.

"Our security preparations indeed paid off -- we have achieved Task Group Site Davao's goal of 'Zero Incident'. It was also a good venue in showcasing Davao City as a safe and secure place for all tourists, visitors and guests," Gapay stressed.

Around 2,000 officers and enlisted personnel of Joint Task Force Haribon were deployed to secure Sunday's event.

It consists of troops and equipment coming from Air Force, Navy and Army.

It also includes explosive ordnance disposal teams, K-9 units, medical teams and quick reaction forces.

Other military assets deployed were armored vehicles, helicopters, ambulances and military trucks necessary in case of emergency.
