From the Philippine Information Agency (Jan 20): Phl Navy donates P3.4M to support education of military orphans
To support the education of the orphans of military personnel, the Philippine Navy recently donated over P3.4 million check to the AFP Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) #SOS (Support Orphans Scholarship).
Navy’s Flag Officer in Command Vice Admiral Ronald Joseph F. Mercado handed the donation to AFP’s Chief of Staff General Eduardo M. Año.
The #SOS is a project of the AFPEBSO that encourages all military officers and enlisted personnel to donate P150, which is equivalent to their one-day subsistence allowance (SA) to support the education of the orphans of military personnel who were killed-in-action, died in line of duty and permanently incapacitated in line of duty.
The AFPEBSO extended its gratitude to the men and women of the Philippine Navy for its support and benevolence to the organization’s commitment of “Leaving No Soldier’s Orphan Behind.”
