From Update.Ph (Dec 25): China’s aircraft carrier steams to Pacific Ocean with Chinese navy formation

China’s first aircraft carrier operating under People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Surface Force, Liaoning along with warships under a Chinese navy formation has headed for West Pacific Ocean on Saturday to carry out blue water training, China official press agency Xinhua said in a report quoting Chinese Navy spokesperson Liang Yang.

It is believed that it is the first the said aircraft carrier will operate in Pacific Ocean.

 

Prior to the report, a Chinese naval formation consisting the said aircraft carrier, destroyers and frigates conducted training and testing missions last week.

A number of carrier-based fighter aircraft Shenyang J-15 took off from the Liaoning, carrying out assignments including air refueling and air confrontation in the Yellow Sea, according to report by Xinhua.
