An Army Battalion has successfully portrayed that they are
not only competent protector of the people against those who challenge peace
but also capable agents of rendering services and providing means of livelihood
to the community in which they are serving.
The 36 Infantry (Valor) Battalion, based in Sitio Upper
Mambago, Brgy. Dayoan in Tago, Surigao del Sur rendered basic services and
initiated livelihood activities beneficial to their host community last week.
In a press statement from the battalion headquarters through
their civil military operations officer Capt. Al Anthony P. Pueblas said
officers and elements of the said battalion rendered free haircut services;
shoes, slippers and sandal repairs; free health massage and beauty care tips to
their constituents.
Capt. Pueblas said the activities were rendered during the
celebration of their “Family Day” last week held at the town gymnasium of Tago,
Surigao del Sur.
According to Pueblas ,
among the highlights of the said celebration was a blood-letting activity by
the officers and elements of the said battalion.
The battalion, according to Capt. Pueblas, had also
coordinated with the Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) for livelihood trainings.
The two-day training on chicken production, crab production
and vegetable production was opened during the event which ran from September
23-24, in Brgy. Amontay, Marihatag of the said province.
There were 54 participants who attended the chicken production
training, 21 for the vegetables and 27 who had shown interest in crab
production.
The trainings, according to the military official, was to
provide the participants some livelihood skills which will help them meet their
daily sustenance.
The army statement said the people in the area expressed
their gratitude to the soldiers of the 36IB for their continuous services to
the community.
Lt. Col. Randolph Rojas, the battalion commander also said,
“We, your soldiers will continue to pursue in giving the much needed services
to the community. We are ready to coordinate with the local government unit
here to give attention to the basic and even health services of the people
here.”
