Brig. Gen. Harold N. Cabreros, former deputy commander of
the Philippine Army's Eastern Mindanao Command, formally assumed command of the
Capiz-based 3rd Infantry Division last Dec. 23.
In a statement on Friday, Major Ray Tiongson, 3rd Infantry
Division spokesperson, said the turnover-of- command ceremonies, presided by
Army commander Lt. Gen. Eduardo Año, took place at the unit's headquarters in
Jamindan, Capiz.
Cabreros replaced Brig. Gen. Reynaldo Mutiangpili who
retired from military service after reaching the mandatory retirement age of
56.
Cabreros pledged to secure and sustain the gains of the 3rd
Infantry Division in its internal peace and security efforts through
“Bayanihan” in Western and Central Visayas and the Negros Island
regions.
He said that aside from clearing the remaining
insurgency-affected areas in the 3rd Infantry Division area of responsibility,
the unit will continue to work closely with its partners and stakeholders in
nation building activities and in humanitarian assistance and disaster response
operations.
Cabreros also stressed that the 3rd Infantry Division will
ensure a peaceful and orderly elections in May 2016 quoting the marching order
of the Commander-in-Chief, President Benigno Aquino III given during the Armed
Forces of the Philippines' 80th anniversary last Dec. 21.
