Units of the 10th Infantry Division are now conducting
tracking and pursuit operations against the New People's Army (NPA) band who
killed a militiaman and abducted two soldiers in Monkayo town, Compostela Valley Wednesday afternoon.
1st Lt. Alexandre Cabales, 10th Infantry Division public
affairs office chief, both incidents took place 2 p.m. at Barangay Casoon,
Monkayo town.
He added that the militiaman was flagged down and killed by
the NPAs first before abducting the motorcycle riding troopers who witnessed
the atrocity.
Cabales said the murdered militiaman was detailed at the
Casoon Patrol Base while the abducted soldiers are from the 25th Infantry
Battalion.
Lt. Col. Mitchel Anayron, 25th Infantry Battalion commander,
said eyewitnesses recognized the leader of the NPAs as alias “Jinggoy.”
"Jinggoy" whose true name is Zaldy Cañete is a
notorious NPA commander who is out on bail.
