The Army's 6th Infantry Division has tendered honors to
Maguindanao Rep. Bai Sandra Sema in recognition of her achievements being
commissioned in the Reserve Force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as well as her
contributions in the peace and development initiatives of 6ID in Maguindanao.
The 6th ID traditional military parade and review with
all-women Army battalion also honored Sema with a snappy performance and
drills.
Capt. Joan Petinglay, 6th ID spokesperson, said the activity
was held at the division grandstand.
During the program, the 6th ID lady officers and personnel
were at the front lines in the parade and review as part of recognizing the
efforts and empowerment of women in this line of work.
Petinglay said the activity was the first time for 6ID to
tender a review making the event different and significant for the honoree.
Maj. Gen Edmundo R. Pangilinan, Commander of 6ID, lauds
Congresswoman Sema as she took another ladder of success being part of the
Reserve Force.
“We need more of her in our continuing fight and quest for
peace in Mindanao and the entire country”, the
Commander averred.
Congresswoman Sema became a Philippine Army Reservist with
the rank of Lieutenant Colonel that took effect last February 15, 2013.
Sema who also represent Cotabato City
in the House of Representatives was among the supporters of the Mindanao Peace
Process which the 6th ID has given primacy.
Known as the "Kampilan Division," the Army
division covers the provinces of Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato .
It has been complimenting the peace efforts of the national
government.
With the ceasefire agreement effectively working between the
government forces and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MNLF), the 6th ID has
shifted its more on peace building and community development in its area of
jurisdiction.
