In line with its peace and order missions, units of the
Eastern Mindanao Command arrested 47 New People's Army (NPA) fighters from Jan.
1 to July 8, this year.
Capt. Alberto Caber, Eastern Mindanao Command spokesperson,
said their units were aided in these operations by local police and charges
have been filed against the arrested individuals.
He said he expects the figure to go higher as civilians get
more tired of the rebels' ceaseless extortion demands and harassment.
Fifty-eight NPA improvised explosive devices were also
seized and disarmed during the same period, Caber added.
