From Ang Malaya (Jun 4): Raytheon awarded $25 million 2nd phase of National Coast Watch Center

Raytheon Company announced in a news release that it secured the competitively-awarded second phase of the United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) maritime border security contract for the Republic of the Philippines known as National Coast Watch Center.

“Under the $25 million contract, Raytheon will deliver sensing, command and control, and communications systems along with the training and sustainment services necessary to operationalize maritime border security capabilities,” Raytheon said.

“Under this latest contract award, Raytheon will enable the government of the Philippines to stand up a fully-operational security capability that detects, deters, and prevents threats along its coastal borders,” said Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS).

“This work continues our strong partnership with the Republic of the Philippines and our direct support of DTRA’s efforts to help nations secure their borders and coastlines.”

The government of United States provided $20 million for the first phase of National Coast Watch Center. National Coast Watch Center located at Philippine Coast Guard Headquarters in Manila, in initial phase, was formally inaugurated last April 28.

Undersecretary Jose Luis Alano, NCWC Secretariat, said NCWC “shall be equipped with the needed capabilities to achieve maritime situational awareness, coordinated inter-agency response, and disposition in accordance with the rule of law. This will be done in phases until full-mission capability is achieved.”
