Japan Marine United Corporation signed the agreement with Philippine Government for the construction of 10 units of Multi-Role Response Vessel and Special Spare Parts for the Philippine Coast Guard June 4, 2015.

“The project is based on the ‘Maritime Safety Capability Improvement Project for the Philippine Coast Guard’ by the Japanese ODA Loan using the STEP: Special Terms for Economic Partnership,” JMU said in a released statement.

“The vessels will be delivered in succession from the end of August, 2016,” the Japanese builder said.

JMU said the project aims to improve the capabilities of Philippine Coast Guard for quick and appropriate response to maritime incidents, such as search and rescue, and maritime law enforcement, by providing MRRVs for PCG, and thereby to contribute to the maritime safety of Philippines.

The overall length of PCG MRRVs will be 44 meters with approximate width of 7.5 meters and depth of 4 meters. Main engine will be 2 MTU 12V4000M93L with cruising speed of 15 knots.

The vessels will be capable of housing five officers and twenty crews.
