Just a few more days before the celebration of the New
People's Army (NPA) 46th anniversary on March 29, one of its team leaders
surrendered to the police at a border municipality of a southern province in
the region over the weekend.
Reports from Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office
reaching the police regional headquarters here on Sunday said that a certain
Nanjie G. Salinsan, alias "Renren," 22, a resident of Purok 5, Sitio
Cogonon, Brgy. Salvacion, Trento in Agusan del
Sur gave himself up to Police Insp. Renante V. Abendano, deputy chief of Trento
Municipal Police Station at about 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
Salinsan went to the police station accompanied by Hon.
Victoria L. Plaza, Sanguniang Bayan member of Trento
municipality and Hon. Heracleo L. Luces, Barangay Captain of Brgy. Salvacion of
the said town. The surrenderee and the local government officials assisting him
were escorted by personnel from the Agusan del Sur Provincial Public Safety
Company, led by PSupt. Romeo A. Villalobos Jr. and a personnel from the 133rd
Regional Public Safety Company PO1 Marvic P. Yungao.
Salinsan who was said to be a team leader of Baking Segoda
Sentro de Gravidad, Guirrella Front 20 of the Southern Mindanao Revolutionary
Committee (SMRC) accordingly surrendered as he wanted to give up armed struggle
and to live peacefully with his family and loved ones.
The surrenderer was released from the custody of Trento
Municipal Police Station and was turned over to Hon. Heracleo L. Luces, Jr.;
Brgy. Capt. of Brgy. Salvacion of the said town.
