From GMA News (Feb 21): AFP: 4 soldiers hurt in Davao Oriental clash with NPA guerrillas
Four Army members were reported injured in an encounter with New People's Army insurgents in Davao Oriental early Saturday morning.
Maj. Gen. Eduardo Ano, head of the Army's 10th Infantry Division, said the fighting occured at Sitio Maitum in Barangay Mahayag, in Banay-Banay town at about 6 a.m.
He said a 20-minute firefight occurred as the Army's 28th Infantry Battalion caught up with around 10 NPAs.
At the time, he said soldiers have been pursuing NPA guerrillas who attacked the Mati City police station last week.
Recovered from the rebels were an M-16 rifle, one hand grenade and five backpacks.
Since the attack on the Mati City police station last Feb. 15, two firefights have occurred.
