The Abu Sayyaf has released a boy they had kidnapped in Sulu last month, the military reported Sunday.
Captain Rowena Muyuela, public affairs chief of the Western Mindanao Command, said the boy was released around 4:10 p.m. in Sitio Kuppong, Barangay Paligue in Indanan town.
The boy was kidnapped the afternoon of January 6 as he played outside his home in Barangay Asturias, Jolo.
Following the abduction, the boy’s parents moved to Zamboanga City where they reportedly negotiated a ransom for the safe release of their child.
