All flyable assets of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), which can be used for disaster relief, will be up and flying should another major typhoon or calamity strike the country.
This was the assurance given by PAF commander Lt. Gen. Jeffrey F. Delgado.
"We can provide the necessary assets that we need (for disaster relief) especially our C-130s (Hercules cargo aircraft) and the UH-1H 'Huey' helicopters (and) the (W-3A 'Sokol') utility helicopters, we would like to (assure the public) that they will be ready in times of disasters," he added.
And to ensure the availability of these planes, Delgado said that the PAF is constantly checking on their maintenance status and existing spare parts to determine if they are update and current.
Delgado also said a review is being conducted to determine whether PAF units dedicated for disaster response need to be reinforced with additional equipment and personnel.
