From Tempo (May 3): Landmine blast hits 4 troopers
Four soldiers were wounded when they were hit by a landmine that exploded during a clash with New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Sitio Bentuin, Barangay Fatima, Paquibato District, here, at about 7 a.m., Thursday.
Report said soldiers belonging to 69th IB of the Philippine Army were conducting foot patrol when they chanced upon a group of NPA rebels that resulted in a 20-minute gunfight.
Four of the soldiers were hit by a landmine planted by the rebels in the area of encounter, the report added.
The wounded soldiers were identified as Sgt. James Cabang, Pfc. Rommel Castillo, Pfc. Ben Mondero and Pfc. Emmanuel Sebastian.
