From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 3): Troops clear, turn over 11 vital installations in Zambo City

The government security forces have turned over Thursday 11 vital installations to include two places of worships to the respective administrators after completion of clearing operations.

Cleared of unexploded munitions and turned over were the Hall of Justice, Land Transportation Office, Department of Budget and Management, National Statistics Office, National Museum, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Women Crisis Center, Plaza del Pilar, Sta. Barbara Barangay Hall, Fort Pilar Shrine, and the Sta. Barbara Mosque.

Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca said the vital installations are in the priority list for clearing operations to ensure delivery of basic services like in the case of the government offices.

The turnover ceremony was held at the Hall of Justice Thursday afternoon.

The heads of the different offices and the administrators of the Fort Pilar Shrine and Mosque have expressed their deepest gratitude to the troops who defended the 11 vital installations at the height of the standoff.

Except for the NSO, all the other 10 vital installations are located within Barangay Sta. Barbara, one of the sites of fierce fighting between the government forces and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebels.

The NSO is located along Dr. Evangelista Street in Barangay Sta. Catalina, also one of the places of heavy fighting during the standoff.
