Three persons, including a nine-year old boy, were killed in separate violent incidents in Compostela Valley province.

The first incident happened 6 p.m. Wednesday, when, according to local authorities, troops of the Army’s 71st Infantry Battalion fired on four persons in Sitio Kidaraan, Barangay Anitapan, Mabini town.

Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, provincial police director, said an initial check with the 1001st Brigade indicated the incident was an alleged encounter between the troops and New People’s Army guerrillas in which one soldier died and two others were wounded.

Roque Antibo, 9, also died in the incident while another minor, Jeffrey Hernan, 13, was wounded.

Hours later, at around 10:30 p.m., the Army detachment at Km 12, Barangay Casoon, Monkayo town was reportedly harassed by 15 rebels belonging to the NPA's Southern Mindanao Regional Committee led by a certain "Al."

Militiaman Romeo Comamao was killed while Resalio Quilario was wounded.
