From the Philippine Star (Oct 29): P-Noy awaits communist rebels' take on peace
The Aquino government is waiting for the response of the leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to its offer of peace following the signing of a framework agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). “We have been very earnest in our desire for peace even with the CPP. Our efforts in coming up with the framework agreement with the MILF shows our sincerity,” presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said yesterday. “An atmosphere where guns are kept silent, where the swords are sheathed would be a welcome atmosphere in peace negotiations,” he told a press briefing at Malacañang yesterday. “We have again offered the olive branch to the CPP-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (NPA-NDF). We are waiting for their response. The President said that it looks promising so let’s wait for that,” Lacierda said....
