Look//20th IB "KinaBOOKasan" Projec to reach more students in Northern Samar
LAS NAVAS, Northern Samar — The 20th Infantry (We Lead) Battalion launched its 4th "KinaBOOKasan" Project: Books and School Supplies Donation Drive on July 02, 2023, at Roxas Elementary School, Brgy. Roxas, Catubig, Northern Samar.
The We Lead Troopers donated storybooks, school supplies, slippers, and loot bags containing small toys and goodies to 400 students and out-of-school youths. They also turned over reference textbooks to the school teachers at Roxas Elementary School. After the distribution of gift packs, parlor games, and storytelling, 20IB has also initiated a feeding program that caters to almost the whole barangay, composed of 290 families, with a total population of 1,648 beneficiaries.
The KinaBOOKasan Project was already in its second year of reaching conflict-affected areas and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas since its launch in December 2021. This project showcases the commitment to helping the student sector, which is usually exploited and became a victim of the deceptive CPP-NPA-NDF recruitment, as it aims to put a premium on the continuous learning of the students amidst the challenges of poverty and insurgency.
"KinaBOOKasan" would not be possible without the continuous support of the following partner-stakeholders: DBSN Farms Agriventures Corporation, Mezzo Hotel, ACDI Catarman Branch, The Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, Republic Calibre Eagles Club, Republic Pacific Eagles Club, Republika Centro Norte Eagles Club, Republic Barons Eagles Club, Local Government Unit Catubig, and Youth for Peace Movement-Catubig Chapter.
