DAVAO CITY - Doming Estrera, President of the Davao Oriental Former Rebel's Association (DOFRA), said that the lives of former rebels in Davao Oriental progressed through the livelihood programs provided by the government during the AFP-PNP Southern Mindanao Press Corps Media Briefing in Davao City on July 12, 2023.
Mr. Doming Estrera said that all the former rebels in his province received their Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). Likewise, DOFRA - Mati City Chapter received a Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) amounting to P300,000.00 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), where it generated P100,000.00 income in six months from its furniture shop funded by the SLP.
"Balik nami sa normal. Naa na nami panginabuhian. Sa pagkakaron ang Davao Oriental Insurgency-Free na, malinawon na gyud didto (We are living normal lives. Majority of us has own undertakings. Davao Oriental now is insurgency-free, the province is really peaceful)," Estrera said.
Moreover, Estrera is the first former rebel granted by the Landbank of the Philippines a financial loan amounting to P100,000.00 due to his good managerial skills in handling the financial assistance he received under the E-CLIP when he returned to the folds of the law in 2016 and used the said fund to open his own business.
DOFRA is a federated organization of former rebels in Davao Oriental with 1,235 members and 11 chapters.
