1 NPA Killed, High-Powered Firearms Captured After Continuous Army Offensive in Bukidnon

IMPASUGONG BUKIDNON – One NPA was killed, and two high-powered firearms were captured following the army offensive against the remnants of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in the hinterlands of Barangay Bontongon, Impasugong, Bukidnon on July 07, 2023, Friday.

Through the support of the concerned populace of the said barangay, the 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion led by Lt. Col. Anthony Bacus, under the Operational Control of the 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade under BGEN MICHELE B ANAYRON JR PA launched a Focused Military Operation which led to an encounter at 4 o’clock in the afternoon of the above-mentioned date against more or less 20 members of the CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs).

After a 30-minute clash, one (1) NPA was killed, and the government troops were able to capture one (1) M4A1 Rifle; one (1) M14 Rifle; one (1) M16 short magazine loaded with ammunitions; one (1) M14 magazine loaded with ammunitions; one (1) bandolier; one generator set; two (2) cauldrons; five (5) ponchos; 8 liters of gasoline; and a number of food supplies. Meanwhile, no casualty was recorded on the side of the government forces.

I am also grateful for the continuous cooperation and support from the Barangay Officials of Barangay Manalog, Malaybalay City for their cooperation. Without the support of the Barangay Captains in the area, the series of encounters for this month and the past months would not have been possible. The cooperation and partnership between the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the local populace, and different agencies displayed the perfect institutionalization of Executive Order No. 70 National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) or the “Whole-of-Nation” approach which significantly facilitate the total decline of the NPA, and allow the former rebels to enjoy freedom and take advantage of the services offered to them by the government.”, BGEN ANAYRON said.
