The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that 223 more police officers contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of cases among its ranks to 4,785.
As of Tuesday evening, the PNP Health Service said of the 223 new infections, 96 were from the National Operational Support Units, followed by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon) with 61; the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) with 19; the National Headquarters and PRO 4-A (Calabarzon) with 14 each; the National Administrative Support Unit with nine; PRO 5 (Bicol) with six; and PRO 6 (Western Visayas) with four.
Meanwhile, 3,337 PNP personnel have already recovered from the disease while the death toll stands at 16.
The PNP Health Service is also monitoring 745 probable cases and 3,135 suspected cases.
Cops tested for Covid-19 observe a 14-day quarantine and undergo another test.
Once cleared, they have to rest for seven to 10 more days before going back to duty.
