Posted to Kalinaw News (May 8, 2020): JTFC awards medals to wounded soldiers (By 57th Infantry Battalion)
The Commander of Joint Task Force Central (JTFC), Maj. Gen. Diosdado C Carreon, awards on May 05, 2020 the Wounded Personnel Medals (WPMs) to personnel who were wounded in action during encounters with different threat groups in the JTFC Joint Area of Operation (JAO). The Commander was assisted by JTFC Chief of Staff Col. Michael A Santos.
The Wounded Personnel Medal is awarded as a fitting recognition for bravery and heroic acts resulting to being wounded in action while performing duties against terrorist actions.
The personnel who were awarded the medals are admitted and are recuperating from bullet wounds in Camp Siongco Station Hospital at the 6th Infantry Division Headquarters, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
PFC Lyndon A Matias of 57th Infantry Battalion was wounded when the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) harrassed the group of soldiers conducting security patrol as part of implementing the community quarantine last May 3, 2020 in Brgy Talibadok, Datu Hoffer,Maguindanao.
CAA Noli Martin of Division Cafgu Affairs Unit (DCAU) was wounded from a firefight while conducting route security last March 27, 2020 in Barangay Maitumaig, Datu Unsay Maguindanao.
“These personnel risks their lives and fought galantly to preserve peace in Central mindanao. The JTFC will forever be gratefull for their selfless service and their acts of bravery is one thing that I, as their Commander, will always be proud of.” Gen Carreon said.
CAA Nhor T Guiaman of Division CAFGU Affairs Unit (DCAU) was wounded from an encounter last March 27, 2020 in Barangay Salman, Ampatuan Maguindanao.
