AFP-CRS: Philippine Navy and JMSDF Meeting Engagement in the Sulu Sea

Posted to the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Civil Relations Service (AFP_CRS) Facebook Page (Jun 29, 2019): BRP DAVAO DEL SUR (LD602) welcomes to Philippine waters contingents of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force Escort Flotilla 1 (JMSDF EF1)

BRP DAVAO DEL SUR (LD602) welcomes to Philippine waters contingents of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force Escort Flotilla 1 (JMSDF EF1) during a Meeting Engagement at the vicinity of Cagayan de Sulu, Tawi Tawi on 28 June 2019. The JMSDF EF1 includes vessels JS IZUMO (DDH-183), JS MURASAME (DD-101) and JS AKEBONO (DD-108) with SH-60K patrol helicopters onboard.

The customary meeting procedure accorded by LD602 to the flotilla is a prime opportunity for the PN and JMSDF to enhance interoperability and strengthen relationship among like-minded Navies to promote peace and stability in the region. More importantly, it gave the JMSDF a glimpse of Filipino hospitality.

JMSDF EF1 is scheduled to call on the Port of Subic this weekend and further interact with the personnel of the PN. This further highlights the continuing commitment between the two Navies towards the peaceful use of the seas.
