PRRD names Bangsamoro Transition Authority members

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has named 76 members out of the 80-member Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).

Duterte signed the members’ appointment papers on Feb. 22 but a copy of which was released to media on Wednesday (February 27).

Duterte has to appoint four more members to complete his 80-member BTA.

Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman Ahod Balawag "Murad" Ebrahim was appointed interim Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The BTA will govern the newly-established BARMM until elections in 2022.

Under the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), the MILF will have majority of the BTA's seats. Other members are nominees of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Earlier, Duterte said the inclusion of Macapaar, better known as Commander Bravo, in the BTA will help end the revolution in Mindanao.

Ebrahim vowed that good governance in the BARMM will be delivered in the BTA. He also promised to end corruption and sustain the gains of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
