From the Philippine Information Agency (Feb 27, 2019): Army troopers discover arm cache in Maguindanao

Troops of 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion recently discovered an arm cache during the conduct of combat clearing operation in Barangay Buayan, Datu Piang, Maguindanao.

Recovered firearms that placed inside the vacant comfort room at the back of the Barangay Hall were one M653 carbine, one M653 carbine COLT AR-15, one M203 40MM GL, one cal .45 pistol, one cal .38 pistol, and assorted magazines and ammunitions.


Concerned populace reported to the military regarding the presence of the armed group believed to be members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) who prompted security forces to conduct clearing operation.

“The timely and accurate information provided by concerned civilian led to the recovery of said valuable war materials,” 6th Infantry Commander Major General Cirilito Sobejana said.

“We will sustain our commitment to ensure the safety and security of the people in Central Mindanao against the BIFF who sow terror and create fear in the community,” he added.

Sobejana also commended the troops involved for the successful conduct of the operation, and recognized the community for their support in providing significant information. (DPAO-6ID)
