From the Philippine Information Agency (Jul 26): PNP condemns abduction of 3 cops, 1 civilian employee in Surigao Norte town

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 13 denounced and deeply condemned the atrocity conducted by the lawless armed group with the recent abduction of three PNP members and one Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP) on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Barangay Cagtinae, Malimono town.

The four abducted victims identified as SPO3 Santiago B. Lamanilao, presently assigned at the Surigao City Police Station; PO3 Jayroll H. Bagayas, PO2 Caleb C. Sinaca and NUP Rodrigo T. Angob, all assigned at Malimono Municipal Police Station were abducted by more or less 10 lawless armed group wearing military uniform believed to be members of the New People's Army (NPA).

According to the witnesses, the victims were seen tied in both hands while being brought to the mountainous area.

The PNP-Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) Caraga in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) are conducting hot pursuit and checkpoint operations and exerting its relentless effort to track down and locate the abductors and bring them to justice.

Further, the Crisis Management Committee of Malimono headed by Mayor Teodoro F. Sinaca was activated to effectively handle the present crisis situation in the area.

All line units of the PNP-Regional Office 13 were placed on full alert status and directed to be extra vigilant and implement Target Hardening Security Measures to pre-empt NPA’s hostile plans and other threat groups-related violent activities.

The public is assured that the PNP in collaboration with the AFP will remain relentless in maintaining the peace and order in the region.

The PNP is also calling the NPA members to lay down their arms, abandon the armed struggle and return to the comfort of their families and assist the police in the enforcement agencies in bringing peace in the region.
