Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista signs a memorandum of agreement with QC General Hospital (QCGH) medical director Dr. Josephine Sabando and Brig. Gen. Joseph Acosta, of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center, for the promotion of breastfeeding among mothers in the city. The agreement, which underscores the need for an organized support system for breastfeeding mothers, is another mother-baby friendly initiative from the city government.
QUEZON CITY --The Quezon City government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center to promote breastfeeding among mothers in the city.
Under the MOU signed by Mayor Herbert Bautista representing the city government-run QC General Hospital (QCGH) and the officials of the AFP Medical Center agreed to accept patients from both hospitals who want to participate in a breastfeeding group that the city is organizing.
Under a memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties, the health department’s maternal and child health division shall receive post-natal referrals from the AFP Medical Center and the QCGH and shall provide the necessary facilities to sustain breastfeeding through the city’s trained community support group.
The QCGH was represented during the agreement signing by its medical director, Dr. Josephine Sabando, and the AFP Medical Center, by Brig. Gen. Joseph Acosta.
To date, the QC government operates a milk bank at the QCGH and a breastfeeding station within the city hall compound to promote breastfeeding among mothers in workplaces.
