From the Philippine Information Agency (Jul 26): Unilateral ceasefire: Key to peace in Mindanao, says MisOr guv
Unilateral ceasefire is a key to lasting peace in Mindanao.
Misamis Oriental Governor Bambi Emano lauded Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement, made during his 1st State of the Nation Address (SONA), for a unilateral ceasefire against the CCP-NPA-NDF as key for lasting peace especially for Mindanao.
It also means the development of the entire Mindanao and fulfillment of our desires in terms of tourism, said Emano.
The comprehensive ceasefire is something been dreamed of by our brothers, especially in the countryside, whose livelihood often affected during the conflict, he said.
The governor also explained that the conflict in the countryside greatly affects in the delivery of services of the local government to the public.
The conflict has affected the “out-of-budget” which further the plight of the local government. The establishment of lasting peace means that local governments can focus now on projects that would bring development to the areas threatened by the conflict.
With the ceasefire, we may able to launch in Misamis Oriental the developments targeted by the provincial government, especially in those areas threatened by the conflict.
