The camp of Marine Lt. Col. Ferdinand Marcelino on Friday
maintained it was a misencounter that happened between him and the operatives
of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National
Police-Anti Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG), who arrested him in a drug-bust
operation Thursday in Sta. Cruz, Manila .
Atty. Dennis Manalo, lawyer of Marcelino, said that the
document which will confirm the status of Marcelino as a military intelligence
operative is now being processed.
Manalo said that there was a reason why Marcelino was in the
place, which was the target of the operation of the PDEA and the PNP-AIDG,
adding that, the document they are waiting will prove this.
He said that the document will emanate from the intelligence
community.
Manalo noted that it is just difficult to readily release
the document, which is a mission order, hence, Marcelino was in the place of
the operation because it is "confidential" and still needs to go
through a clearance.
He believes that the case is not yet ripe to elevate the
complaint in court.
Meanwhile, aside from Marcelino and former PDEA interpreter
Yan Yi Shou, also included in the charge sheet are three other Chinese
nationals at-large, namely: Lo Chi alias "Tanda", Atong Lee and Chu .
The three Chinese nationals are the target of the search
warrant issued by Judge Fernando Sagun which was used as basis for the conduct
of the drug-bust operation on Thursday.
